Gocek to the south

Heading south? Two-week charters will take in the sights of Coldwater Bay and Gemiler Island, as well as the highlights of Kalkan, Kas and Kekova Roads.

Further south is Finike Marina, an ideal destination for a one-way charter.

Gemiler Island

Top of page

The Island of Gemiler is famous for its extensive Byzantine ruins. Take the walkway up to the top of the hill to enjoy amazing views. We advise you anchor in the channel, with lines ashore.

Coldwater Bay

Top of page

A fantastic place for a spot of swimming, the name of the bay comes from cold freshwater springs that enter the sea from the bottom of the bay.
Take a hike up the path to enjoy the views from the excellent restaurant, and continue over the hills to the deserted Greek village of Kayakoy.
This anchorage is very busy at the height of the season so be sure to get there early. Ali, the friendly restaurant owner, will probably guide you to your anchor spot.

Olu Deni

Top of page

Oli Deniz boasts a beautiful lagoon, which is now a prohibited area. Yachts may anchor just outside, but it is not recommended as an overnight spot. The beach is big and beautiful but very crowded.

Patara

Top of page

Should be visited by road from Kalkan or Fethiye.

Kalkan

Top of page

A bustling little tourist town with a small harbour, Kalkan offers good eating and shopping. This is an excellent overnight spot but arrive early as there is limited space in the harbour.

Kas

Top of page

Highly recommended by the staff at Seaways Sailing, Kas is a small town with a fantastic atmosphere and excellent restaurants.

The harbour is small and gets very busy in the summer, but nearby Bayindir Limani offers additional anchorage.

A short walk from the harbour is a Greek amphitheatre, especially beautiful at sunset (so don’t forget to take a bottle of wine with you!).

There are several anchorages and interesting ancient sites to explore in this region.

Uçağız

Top of page

A sheltered lagoon-like bay with good holding, there is a small hamlet at Uçağız with a choice of restaurants and a well-stocked supermarket.

Kaleköy

Top of page

A picturesque village with a castle on the hilltop, anchor in Ucagiz and visit Kaleköy by dinghy, as anchorage here is very rocky. The famous ruins of Ancient Simena (Sunken City) are off the coast of Kekova where underwater walls can be clearly seen close to the shore - snorkelling is not allowed but take a glass bottom boat from the village.

Gökkaya

Top of page

A sheltered bay dotted with small islands, channels and several anchorages. Gökkaya appears quiet, but as night falls it can get quite lively. This is a nice spot for an overnight stop and swimming.

Finike

Top of page

A dusty town with a safe harbour, shops and restaurants, Finike is a good place to start or end a one-way charter.
